Crank Bros egg beater or chocolate?

The platform gives you something to push when you forget to cut, like when you must restart the middle of a hill. Besides, I think clips from the eggbeaters could be easily damaged because they are totally exposed. You can scratch a rock or something with the bottom. I scraped my pedal several times and I see scratches in the rocks where others have done the same.
